Dennis Cantrell Joins GBA as a Vice President/Principal

Lenexa, Kan. (February 2, 2011) – Dennis A. Cantrell, P.E., has joined GBA, a leading engineering and architectural firm with headquarters here, as a vice president and principal for the firm’s Water Environment Group. Cantrell will be headquartered in Lenexa and will work closely with the firm’s offices in Kansas City, O’Fallon, St. Louis, and Omaha.

Cantrell comes to GBA with more than 34 years of professional experience in the environmental engineering and consulting business throughout the United States and several countries around the world. His experience with water and wastewater facilities and utilities includes feasibility studies, comprehensive master planning, hydraulic modeling, rate analysis, project management, design, inspection services, and construction management.

According to GBA President and CEO Michael L. Smith, P.E., Dennis’s broad experience includes assisting many large and mid-sized metropolitan areas to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Clean Water Act and NPDES requirements. “His experience complements and further strengthens GBA’s leadership position in this and other important markets,” Smith said. Most recently, Cantrell has been responsible for management of design for facility and utility projects for the City of Kansas City, Missouri’s facilities, sewer, water, stormwater, and Overflow Control Plan (OCP); the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District’s sewer and Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) program projects; and the Omaha, Neb., CSO program.

Cantrell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Kansas Society of Professional Engineers, Kansas Consulting Engineers, American Water Works Association, and Water Environment Federation.

Cantrell joins GBA from HNTB Corporation where he was Director of the Water Services and Water Resources Group for their Kansas City, St. Louis, and Omaha offices.
