GBA Selected by Johnson County Wastewater (JCW) to Provide Consulting Engineering Services for New Gravity Sewers

Lenexa, Kan. (May 12, 2008) – George Butler Associates, Inc. (GBA), a leading engineering and architectural firm headquartered here, announced today that the company has been selected by Johnson County Wastewater (JCW), Johnson County, Kan., to provide consulting engineering services for new gravity sewers. The work will be conducted under a one-year Continued Consulting Services Contract (CCSC) – the fifth contract of this type awarded to GBA by the utility – with an option to renew for an additional two years.

JCW serves more than 130,000 customers with more than 2,000 miles of sewer. GBA has worked with JCW for a total of 12 years to provide engineering consulting services for more than 100 miles of new gravity sewer ranging in diameter from eight inches to 60 inches. Construction cost for the combined projects exceeds $60 million.

Johnson County Wastewater is recognized nationally for its progressive approach toward system planning, design, management, and maintenance. Since the early 1990s, the utility has grown by more than 800 miles of new sewer line to serve the county.
