GBA Forms Transit + Fleet Works Design Studio; Adds Michael F. Pollard, AIA, to Head Up Studio and Gary L. Norris to Provide Technical Support

CLenexa, Kan. (January 16, 2008) – George Butler Associates, Inc. (GBA), a leading engineering and architectural firm, announced the formation of the GBA Transit + Fleet Works Design Studio with headquarters here. At the same time, the firm announced that Michael F. Pollard, AIA, has joined GBA as an associate with responsibility for heading up the Transit + Fleet Works Studio and that Gary L. Norris has joined the Transit + Fleet Works Studio as a design technician.

GBA’s Transit + Fleet Works Design Studio is a collaboration of architects and engineers dedicated to providing integrated, sustainable design solutions to clients in the public and private sectors. The primary focus of the studio includes fleet maintenance facilities, municipal services complexes, distribution centers, freight terminals, vehicle storage, and intermodal facilities.

Pollard comes to GBA with more than 25 years of experience in the design of transportation and fleet maintenance facilities throughout the U.S. Prior to joining GBA, he was the owner and principal architect of SRG Architectural Services where projects included distribution facilities and fleet maintenance facilities for many national clients in the LTL transportation industry. Earlier Pollard spent 14 years as corporate architect and supervisor of facility design for Yellow Freight System, Inc., a Kansas City-based Fortune 500 corporation now known as YRC Worldwide, where his responsibilities included supervising the design and construction of Yellow’s operating facilities nationwide. Pollard holds a BA degree in Architecture and a BS degree in Environmental Design from the University of Kansas.

Norris’ more than 25 years of experience in the design and construction industries include work with SRG Architectural Services and, earlier, with Yellow Freight System, Inc. In his new position, he will provide construction drawings and specifications for GBA’s Transit + Fleet Works Studio.

Founded in 1969, George Butler Associates is a full-service engineering and architectural firm with a staff of 240 located in headquarters in Lenexa, Kansas, and offices in Kansas City, St. Louis, and O’Fallon in Missouri; and Lisle, Illinois.
