Missouri Data Center

Jefferson City, Missouri

GBA provided the programming, schematic design, construction documents, and contract administration for the new 7 X 24 Server Room for the state of Missouri in the Kirkpatrick Building in Jefferson City. Former office space was converted to data center space with the addition of redundant computer room air-conditioning units, 2N redundant UPS power, and an FM-200 clean agent fire suppression system. GBA worked with the state during the programming phase to successfully incorporate the requirements of the IS, facilities, and Secretary of State Office into a predetermined footprint. Utilizing a “design charrette”, the schematic design was presented and changes were made “on the fly” to quickly get the various departmental approvals and enable the construction document phase of the project to begin on schedule. During the planning phase of the project, testing was done on an existing generator in the Kirkpatrick building to determine the suitability for supplying standby power for the new space. Based upon the testing and subsequent engineering evaluation, it was determined the existing generator could be used to provide standby power for the critical server space, thus avoiding the cost of a new generator. The fast track renovation project was completed within the state mandated schedule and GBA cost estimate. The facility will be operated by the Office of the Secretary of State to collect and publish election results and handle all Secretary of State Website functions.
