Threatened and Endangered Species

One of the essential environmental issues in any project is consideration of threatened and endangered species.

  • Threatened species are plants and animals whose numbers are low and continue to decrease.
  •
  • Endangered species are plants and animals that are so rare that there is danger of their extinction from the planet.
  • The U.S. EPA, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and National Park Service along with State Fish and Wildlife agencies help protect endangered and threatened species and their habitats.

Obtaining a Section 7 Consultation prior to beginning a project that will impact protected species or habitat is a requirement under Federal Laws that are regulated by these agencies.

GBA has extensive experience in working closely with all of the agencies involved. We continue to demonstate the proper balance needed between the threatened and endangered species and construction project, thereby ensureing the ongoing success of both.
