A unique natural setting featuring an 18-acre lake, wetlands, a 100-foot waterfall, walking and biking trails, and an outdoor nature park will provde the backdrop for The Falls at Crackerneck, a 200-acre retail and recreational development now under construction at the southwest corner of I-70 and I-470 in Independence, Missouri.
The upscale development will be anchored by a 160,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shop and will include a 200-room hotel/convention center, three 20-acre retail outlets and surrounding "lifestyle" retail shops. The site will include 83 acres of open space. The site was selected because its natural features, which range from low-lying floodplain to high rock bluffs, could be incorporated into the design.
Bass Pro Shop, which is headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, has been the state's number one tourist attraction since the 1980s. Its state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind facilities, attract tourists from around the country.
GBA is providing environmental permitting, land surveying, traffic engineering, and site/civil engineering for the development, a collaboration of Crackerneck Creek LLC, Bass Pro Shops, and the City of Independence. The Bass Pro Shop is scheduled to open in late 2007.
