GBA’s civil/site engineering team provided land development and infrastructure services to support a 601,000 sf speculative warehouse located on 40 acres at 167th and Lone Elm Road in Olathe. The site is strategically located in southwestern Johnson County, near newly constructed entrance/exit ramps to connect Lone Elm to I-35. Long-term plans are for Lone Elm to become the new alignment for Kansas Highway 7. Also proposed just minutes to the south is Logistics Park Kansas City, an intermodal development encompassing more than 1,000 acres.
Site challenges included design of drainage around a large building footprint surrounded by very flat topography, as well as the new City of Olathe stormwater BMP requirements to protect Lake Olathe. GBA also provided final design of sanitary sewers, public street improvements, detention, and a triple-cell RCB culvert under a future roadway.
