GBA provided comprehensive design services and construction coordination for a water treatment plant capable of supplying the City of Bethany, Missouri, with 1,000 gallons of treated water per minute. Located south of the Bethany reservoir on the city's north side, the plant includes two clarifiers, each 60 ft in diameter; a 133,000-gallon ground storage reservoir and finished water pump station; and two sludge storage lagoons. The plant also includes a filter building, which contains four filters, a laboratory and control room, chemical feeding facilities, and office and storage space. In addition, improvements were made to the existing raw water pump station, which houses two new 1,000-gpm pumps.
The plant replaces the city's older water treatment facility doubling the amount of treated water, which can be produced. Deterioration of the original plant and the city's increased water demand necessitated the new and larger facility. The project was financed through city revenue bonds and a grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
