The City of Gardner, Kansas selected GBA to design a new 2.5-MGD wastewater treatment plant along Kill Creek. The design of the new plant includes provisions for phased expansion to a capacity of 7.5 MGD, as well as future incorporation of phosphorous removal. Rapid growth prompted the city to initiate this and a number of other improvements designed to increase system capacity, including approximately 11,000 ft of interceptor sewer, renovation of the Bull Creek wastewater treatment plant, and a new South Lift Station with 10,000 ft of forcemain and 3,700 ft of interceptor sewer. GBA performed a comprehensive analysis of the existing sanitary sewer system and provided recommendations for design of needed improvements.
