GBA was selected to provide fire protection services for the upgrade or replacement of fire alarm systems at 55 telecommunication switch sites, located across the United States.
Fire protection services included specifications, review of bids and shop drawings, and commissioning of new fire alarm systems. The new fire alarm systems included ADA compliant notification systems, detection and releasing of clean agent, watermist and preaction fire suppression systems and air sampling smoke detection as well as conventional smoke detection. The fire alarm systems interface with critical cooling equipment, as well as with the owner’s Building Automation/monitoring system.
Commissioning of the systems included writing detailed test scripts based on the desired fire alarm programming, and actual testing to verify the desired Sequence of Operations.
The completed systems are compliant with NFPA 72 “National Fire Alarm” code requirements, as well as with standards developed by the owner.
