GBA was commissioned to study the need for a smoke removal system in Cell House D. An evaluation was conducted, comparing the requirements of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), The Uniform Building Code, and the International Building Code. Items considered included building construction, building height, existing smoke detection systems, smoke movement paths and existing egress conditions. Based on the code analysis, less expensive alternatives to smoke removal systems were developed.
