GBA has provided engineering services to United Missouri Bank on a continuous basis since 1983. Services provided by GBA for UMB’s six-story $25 million bank office building included the design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protections systems. The design was preceded by a comprehensive engineering study to determine the most cost-effective energy systems for the building. Based on the results of the computer-modeled study, the building energy systems are all electric. The building contains over 265,000 sf of conditioned office space and requires 750 tons of chilled water capacity. Mechanical energy conservation features include a heat recovery water chiller, variable air volume distribution systems, and variable speed pumping. In addition to electrical power and lighting design, GBA designed the building’s integrated energy management, security, and fire alarm systems. The structure and its support systems were designed to allow for expansion of up to 21 additional stories.
