GBA’s John Cooper Named Transportation Principal

Cooper has over 25 years of experience as a construction inspector, project manager and group leader for construction engineering and inspection services. Starting as an associate leading the Construction Engineering & Inspection Department at GBA in 2007, he has worked on notable projects throughout his career with the firm, including work for the KDOT K-7/I-70 Improvements in Bonner Springs, Kansas; 127th Street in Olathe, Kansas; and specification revisions for the APWA KC Metro Chapter. He has used his extensive knowledge of utilities as GBA’s utility coordinator for over ten years.

In his new role as Principal, Cooper will use his experience with KDOT, MoDOT and municipalities to continue building relationships and increasing GBA’s visibility as a regional firm. His passion to create engineering and construction solutions is recognized by his clients and teammates alike.

“Cooper’s background in construction administration and utility coordination gives him a complete understanding of what it takes to make real improvements in a community’s infrastructure,” said GBA President/CEO Tim Ross. “This knowledgeable approach will serve him well as a member of our firm’s leadership.”

Cooper graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Kansas State University. He is an active member of the American Public Works Association and serves as a member of its national Utilities and Public Rights-of-Ways Committee.
