Overland Park Regional Hospital Expansion

Posted on Posted in Project

Overland Park, Kansas

Since 2010, GBA has been working with Overland Park Regional Medical Center on their major expansion. In partnership with Perkins + Will, GBA served as the civil engineer of record, completing site design, grading plans, utilities, surveying, temporary access points, and landscaping for the hospital. The process involved an extensive approval process through the City of Overland Park Planning & Development Department, and included collaboration with neighboring residents. Construction drawings were completed in 2012 and GBA remained involved, responding to questions and emerging needs as JE Dunn built the major hospital expansion. GBA provided complete civil/site engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, as well as full design plans from preliminary to final development and as-built drawings.

Design Elements:
  • Design of site improvements to accommodate a new tower, renovated ER, and additional out-patient areas on an 18-acre site
  • Landscape buffers along the north boundary at the request of nearby residents
  • A newly constructed parking structure to increase capacity
  • Blending the existing infrastructure with the new, all within compliance of ADA and city regulations
