7th Street Corridor Study
Project Overview
The 7th Street Corridor Study is an ongoing planning effort designed to showcase the potential of this critical north–south connection between historic Downtown Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth that GBA is proud to support. Spanning nine-tenths of a mile, the corridor represents both a physical and symbolic gateway, with opportunities to strengthen the community’s identity and drive renewed economic vitality into the downtown core.
Expected to be completed in February 2026, GBA’s study has already assessed existing conditions, opportunities and challenges and is now advancing into scenario and concept development. The final recommendations will focus on enhancing mobility, infrastructure, land use and the overall character of the corridor to create a safe, welcoming and vibrant experience for all users.
Key features of the project include:
- Improved Transportation and Connectivity: Creating safer, more convenient travel options for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and vehicles to better connect the corridor with downtown.
- Infrastructure and Aesthetic Enhancements: Introducing sustainable improvements that establish a parkway-like atmosphere and a cohesive, pedestrian-friendly public realm.
- Land Use Optimization: Refining land use strategies to strengthen economic opportunities and support long-term redevelopment along the corridor.
Together, these efforts will re-envision 7th Street as a true gateway that blends functionality, beauty and economic opportunity.
GBA Involvement
GBA is providing project management and planning leadership. The team facilitated public engagement activities including multiple stakeholder meetings, steering committee meetings, public open houses and pop-up events to learn more about the corridor, receive recommendations and build project planning consensus. GBA will lead a team of consultants including Shockey Consulting, Atlas Land Consultation and CFS Engineers supporting the success of the project.
