Glenn Hendren Corridor

Project Overview

GBA is partnering with the City of Liberty to re-imagine the Glenn Hendren Corridor, a two-mile stretch adjacent to Interstate 35 that links key community destinations including Lewis and Clark Elementary School, Timber Ridge Neighborhood, Liberty Health and Wellness and Liberty Hospital.

Scheduled for completion in December 2025, this master planning effort envisions the corridor as a Major Collector roadway designed to safely and efficiently accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.

Project Improvements

The project addresses long-standing infrastructure deficiencies while laying the groundwork for a fully connected, multimodal corridor. Proposed improvements include a 10-foot shared-use path connecting residential areas, schools, parks, health care facilities, and nearby trails. GBA’s Water Environment team is also advancing green infrastructure strategies, such as raingardens, infiltration basins and detention areas, based on detailed hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

Final recommendations will deliver a comprehensive plan that enhances vehicular safety, multimodal accessibility, stormwater management and environmental sustainability—ultimately improving the quality of life for all Liberty residents.

GBA Involvement

GBA is providing project management and planning leadership. The team facilitated public engagement activities including multiple stakeholder meetings, steering committee meetings, public open houses and pop-up events at Liberty Plaza and their downtown farmer’s market. GBA is supported by Shockey Consulting and BikeWalkKC providing additional public engagement expertise.
