Sterling Cramer as Vice President
GBA is pleased to announce the return of engineering industry veteran Sterling Cramer, PE, as Vice President of Site Development. In this strategic leadership role, Cramer will drive growth, elevate technical excellence and expand client relationships across GBA’s land development operations, reinforcing the company’s longstanding commitment to building trust-based partnerships rooted in respect, collaboration and shared success.
Cramer’s career comes full circle as he rejoins GBA, the firm where he began his engineering journey more than two decades ago. Since his early years with GBA, Cramer has built a distinguished track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering transformative public and private projects across the Midwest.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sterling back to GBA,” said Jim Jarrett, President of GBA. “His passion for community development, combined with his proven leadership in site design and operational excellence, makes him the right person to help drive the future of our Site Development team. He brings a rare blend of strategic insight and technical depth.”
Prior to rejoining GBA, Cramer held key executive roles, where he scaled operations, led acquisitions and drove regional growth. Throughout his career, Cramer has overseen projects ranging from youth sports complexes to large-scale commercial and federal developments, including work for Whiteman Air Force Base and Johnson County Transit.
A lifelong Kansas City resident, Cramer brings extensive market knowledge and a collaborative spirit to GBA’s regional and national efforts. His immediate focus will be on strengthening the firm’s land development capabilities, cultivating client partnerships and leading targeted expansion in key growth markets.
“I’ve watched GBA from the outside continue to win major, high-profile projects, and I’ve always admired their technical strength and forward-thinking culture,” said Cramer. “Coming back feels like coming home. This is where it all started for me. The opportunity to help lead this team and continue GBA’s legacy in land development is humbling and exciting.”
Cramer’s strategic vision for the Site Development team includes expanding technical capabilities, broadening the client base and aligning with GBA’s broader goals in high-demand markets, such as data centers, industrial development and community infrastructure.
“Sterling’s leadership style, market insight and authentic connection to GBA’s values make him an ideal fit for our team,” said Sarah Doherty, GBA Vice President of Strategy. “He will play a critical role in shaping not only the future of our Site Development market but also how we collaborate across affiliates to deliver even more value to our clients.”
Cramer holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and an MBA from MidAmerica Nazarene University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Kansas and Missouri. He currently sits on the KC SmartPort Board and has held leadership roles with the Overland Park Chamber, Olathe EDC Advisory Council and various community boards.
