GBA Transportation

GBA was a major participant in the Kansas Department of Transportation’s (KDOT) first-ever major design-build project. The Gateway project included mainline pavement reconstruction, interchange upgrades, and 26 bridge structure improvements to help improve this critical intersection of I-435, I-35, and K-10.

MoDOT selected GBA for design improvements along the I-35 corridor between Vivion Road and Pleasant Valley Road. Prior to GBA’s engagement, MoDOT staff had evaluated dozens of interchange concepts.

In close partnership with the city, MoDOT hired the GBA Transportation Engineering team to study feasible methods to replace the bridges balancing construction time, project cost and impacts on traffic.

As a sub-consultant, GBA provided roadway design for eastbound improvements associated with the six-mile widening and overlay of I-64 from I-270 to Clarkson Road. In addition to adding an eastbound interstate lane throughout the project limits, GBA also provided for the relocation of two eastbound slip ramps and the redesign of several more in conjunction…

GBA was hired by MoDOT to provide roadway, traffic, hydraulics and hydrology, and bridge design for the replacement of five structures along US-24 near Buckner, MO. Four bridges are located on westbound US-24, west of Buckner.
