Facilities and Structures

Solutions & Services
City facilities need form and function to best serve the public and the needs of staff. Our professional architects assist with the design of city facilities, pavilions, water features and art installations.
Municipalities have a wide variety of needs that may include anything from a community center, fleet maintenance buildings, water/wastewater structures, office/warehouse facilities, as well as various site structures and features. Our structural engineers stand ready to meet your needs.
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing are the core components of a functional public space. Our team of MEP engineers provide technical expertise to oversee project details throughout the design process.
Building Commissioning
GBA provides commissioning services for buildings and keeps up to date on regulation updates and the development of automated control systems.
Building Renovations
Rejuvenation of a building’s use requires structural evaluation and renewal of essential building systems. GBA provides planning and design for building renovations from the foundation to the roof.
Building Assessment
Foundations, floors, walls, ceilings, structure and building systems can be evaluated by GBA staff to make sound decisions about repairs and replacement.
Facility Mapping
GBA uses the latest technology to create digital facility maps using a combination of 3D modeling, LiDAR, video walkthroughs, drone flythroughs and GIS.
Bridge design requires thoughtful examination of the forces of the natural environment. Our engineers also inspect bridges to understand the remaining longevity. Our use of aerial infrared scans can identify bridge deck delamination to prepare a deck repair plan.
ADA Compliance
Our staff understands the technical requirements to enable the accessibility of all ages and abilities. From the public right-of-way to the front door and inside of buildings, our engineers and architects can remove existing barriers and gaps in connectivity that restrict the flow of people.
Dam and Levee Observations and Reporting
GBA provides observation reports for dams and levees to identify structural deficiencies, animal burrows, cracks/leeching, and spillway concerns.
Wildlife Crossings
Wildlife crossing studies and design projects center on a uniform, data-driven process to analyze data, query hot spots, prioritize locations, and feasibly reduce crash potential. Building off preliminary hotspot analysis, GBA staff works to refine the methodology for data analytics, provide a higher level of precision for site selection, and propose a site selection ranking system that accounts for fluctuations in conflict zones.
